Chandigarh, 15th March 2022: Peerless Ahmedabad Wingers – led by Indian national team’s star duo of Amritpal Singh and Vishesh Bhriguvanshi – completed the formalities of a fourth straight ‘Round’ title in 3BL Men’s Conference ‘B’. ‘3BL’, the only 3X3 Professional Basketball League in India is backed by the Basketball Federation of India and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). Ahmedabad Wingers’ 7ft foot centre Amritpal Singh, who is also a mainstay on the Indian team, was adjudged the MVP. The third season is being played at the Hotel Wyndham Chandigarh Mohali from 8th – 21st March 2022 and is seeing participation from top national and international men’s and women’s 3X3 basketball players.
Ahmedabad Wingers bt Lucknow Ligers 22-6 in the Finals
Facing off against fellow India player Sahaij Sekhon, the seasoned Singh and Bhriguvanshi proved too hot to handle yet again. While Ligers led in the early goings thanks to Sekhon’s sharpshooting, a now-familiar script played out thereafter. The Wingers’ strategy of feeding the ball inside to the 7ft giant Singh appears to have no counter.
“All teams have played against each other at least once or twice. [Other teams] have readied their defensive strategy against me, Vishesh and my other teammates. The competition has become a lot harder,” Singh said.
While Singh may stress that the competition has heightened, Wingers’ 22-6 finals winning margin belies an altogether different story.
Singh was named MVP for the second time, matching Bhriguvanshi’s tally.
All said and done, for whatever it’s worth, Ligers remain the only Conference B team to have beaten the Wingers this season – a 21-17 win in their opening head-to-head Round 1 pool stage game.
