{"id":8617,"date":"2022-03-28T15:24:35","date_gmt":"2022-03-28T09:54:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.3x3bl.com\/?p=8617"},"modified":"2022-03-28T15:24:46","modified_gmt":"2022-03-28T09:54:46","slug":"bfi-fiba-backed-3bl-helps-elevate-indian-mens-3x3-basketball-achieve-its-highest-ever-fiba-world-ranking-of-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/3bljapan.com\/ja\/bfi-fiba-backed-3bl-helps-elevate-indian-mens-3x3-basketball-achieve-its-highest-ever-fiba-world-ranking-of-16\/","title":{"rendered":"BFI &#038; FIBA Backed 3BL helps Elevate Indian Men\u2019s 3&#215;3 Basketball Achieve Its Highest-Ever FIBA World Ranking of 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>3BL 2022 Men\u2019s Champions Gurugram Masters earn a slot to participate in the FIBA 3X3 World Tour in Manila in May 2022 while Runner\u2019s Up Ahmedabad Wingers earn a slot to the Asian Basketball League 3X3 at Bali in April 2022<\/em><\/li><li><em>3BL 2022 Women\u2019s Champion Delhi Divas earn a slot to the Asian Basketball League 3X3 at Bali in April 2022<\/em><\/li><li><em>Indian men\u2019s 3&#215;3 ranking is now in the top 20 in the world, showing extraordinary jump from 70<\/em><sup><em>th<\/em><\/sup><em> to 16<\/em><sup><em>th<\/em><\/sup><em> within a span of just three weeks, thanks to participation in 3BL Season 3 which<\/em><em> was hosted between 8<\/em><sup><em>th<\/em><\/sup><em> to 21<\/em><sup><em>st<\/em><\/sup><em> March 2022 in Chandigarh<\/em><\/li><li><em>This is the highest ranking for any Indian basketball team in history, whether in 3&#215;3 or 5&#215;5, men or women, junior age groups or senior level<\/em><\/li><li><em>INR 75 lakh total prize money awarded in 3BL Season 3, with additional opportunity to participate in prestigious FIBA 3&#215;3 \u2018World Tour\u2019 and \u2018Challenger\u2019 Events and at an Asian continental level tournament<\/em><\/li><li><em>Prior to start of Season 3, 3BL earned exclusive recognition from the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA), making it India\u2019s only authorized professional basketball league<\/em><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>New Delhi, 27<\/strong><sup><strong>th <\/strong><\/sup><strong>March 2022: <\/strong>Indian men\u2019s 3&#215;3 basketball rankings have shown a spectacular jump from 70<sup>th<\/sup> to 16<sup>th<\/sup>, thanks to the recently concludedthird season of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA) backed 3&#215;3 Pro Basketball League (3BL). 3BL Season 3 was held in Hotel Wyndham Chandigarh Mohali from 8<sup>th<\/sup> to 21<sup>st<\/sup> March 2022 and saw participation from leading national and international men\u2019s and women\u2019s 3&#215;3 Basketball players.<\/p><p>Top Indian men\u2019s and women\u2019s team stars from across the country including Vishesh Bhriguvanshi (Arjuna Awardee and captain of the men\u2019s national team), Anitha Pauldurai (Padma Shri), Geethu Anna Rahul (Arjuna Awardee), Raspreet Sidhu, Amritpal Singh, Palpreet Singh (ex-NBA player), Princepal Singh (ex-NBA player) and Stephy Nixon, to name just a few, were seen in action across 18 total franchises (12 men\u2019s and 6 women\u2019s).<\/p><p>A post-season press conference was held earlier today at Taj Mahal hotel, conducted by 3BL Commissioner Mr. Rohit Bakshi and Mrs. Prerna Sharma, Director of YKBK Enterprise Pvt Ltd., which owns the \u20183BL\u2019 intellectual property. Also in attendance were the two 3BL Season 3 champion teams Gurugram Masters (men) and Delhi Divas (women), besides other foreign players. Mr. Vikas Bansal and Mr. Rajeev Tiwari, the owners of Gurugram Masters franchise, which is the reigning champion in the men\u2019s league, were present as well.<\/p><p><strong>Indian men\u2019s 3&#215;3 team ranked #2 in Asia<\/strong><\/p><p>\u201cPrior to the start of 3BL Season 3, we had promised that the Indian men team\u2019s global FIBA 3&#215;3 federation ranking would be around 30<sup>th<\/sup>. We are pleased to confirm that India men now has ranked of 16<sup>th<\/sup> in the World, ahead of Asian powerhouses like China, Iran and Philippines and even Australia, which competes in the Asian circuit,\u201d Mrs. Prerna Sharma said.<\/p><p>\u201cI would like to congratulate India\u2019s men\u2019s basketball players, because besides being among the top 20 in the world, our men\u2019s 3&#215;3 ranking is also second best across the whole of Asia, behind only Mongolia,\u201d Mr. Rohit Bakshi said. \u201cWe need to maintain men and women\u2019s FIBA 3&#215;3 World ranking and improve to be under 4<sup>th<\/sup> in the world rankings by the 31<sup>st<\/sup> October 2023 to ensure both our men and women\u2019s teams qualify to the 2024 Paris Olympics.\u201d<\/p><p><strong>Indian Basketball\u2019s Paris Olympic Dreams inching closer to Reality<\/strong><\/p><p>Going by the qualification criteria at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, only 8 teams per gender compete at the 3&#215;3 event in the Olympics. The top four ranked teams (as per the FIBA 3&#215;3 Federations\u2019 Ranking) get direct entry, while the next 16 ranked teams play in an Olympic Qualifying Tournament.<\/p><p>In other words, as per today\u2019s FIBA 3&#215;3 men\u2019s rankings, the Indian team would be eligible to participate in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, by virtue of being the #16 ranked team in the World.<\/p><p><strong>Top 3BL Men\u2019s teams rewarded with cash prize and further international participation<\/strong><\/p><p>In the men\u2019s section Gurugram Masters was crowned champions, Ahmedabad Wingers were the runners up and Mumbai Heroes were placed third.<\/p><p>The winning men\u2019s team was awarded INR 35 lakh, runners up won INR 25 lakh and the third placed team received INR 15 lakh.<\/p><p>\u201cWe are happy that our team Gurugram Masters could repeat as champions,\u201d said Mr Rajeev Tiwari, co-owner of Gurugram Masters franchise.<\/p><p>\u201cThe competition is getting tougher and tougher. We will continue to dominate the league and win the World Tour Final 2022 to be the best team in the world.\u201d said Mr. Vikas Bansal, co-owner of Gurugram Masters.<\/p><p>Additionally, 3BL Season 3\u2019s champion team Gurugram Masters will be participating in the prestigious FIBA 3&#215;3 \u2018World Tour\u2019 event in Philippines and a FIBA 3&#215;3 \u2018Challenger\u2019 event in Mongolia. Meanwhile, runners up Ahmedabad Wingers will be competing in the first ever ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) 3&#215;3 Cup in Bali, Indonesia.<\/p><p>The ABL 3&#215;3 Cup will be held on 16-17 April, and the FIBA 3&#215;3 World Tour event in Philippines will take place in Manila on 28-29 May. The dates of the \u2018Challenger\u2019 event in Mongolia hasn\u2019t yet been decided, but the venue has been confirmed as its capital city of Ulaanbaatar.<\/p><p><strong>3BL Women\u2019s League Champion team to compete in Asian 3&#215;3 Cup<\/strong><\/p><p>Former India captain Raspreet Sidhu led Delhi Divas were crowned the champions of the second season of the Women\u2019s League that was held alongside the third season of the Men\u2019s League.<\/p><p>\u201cDelhi Divas will be joining men\u2019s runners up Ahmedabad Wingers, at the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) 3&#215;3 Cup in Indonesia. I am proud to be owner of Delhi Divas and we will support our team to win the Championship title in ABL as we did in 3BL Season 3.\u201d said Mr. Vivek Kumar Singh, owner of Delhi Divas and Delhi Hoopers.<\/p><p><strong>Six new 3BL Women\u2019s Teams to be introduced<\/strong><\/p><p>\u201cCome 3BL Season 4, we will be doubling the number of women\u2019s teams from six to twelve.
